Objective

The Driver’s Licensing program will provide assistance to eligible band members to obtain their Class “G” Driver’s License. It is aimed at individuals who experience the lack of a Driver’s License as a barrier to seeking and gaining employment.

Eligible Costs

Eligible costs include the following:

  1. Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) Fees:
    License Fee: $ 50.00
    Written Test: $ 10.00
    G1 Road Test: $ 40.00
    G2 Exit Test: $ 75.00
  2. Transportation costs of $ 0.15 per kilometer to a maximum distance of 160 kilometers.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Driver’s Licensing Program, individuals must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Member of M’Chigeeng First Nation
  2. Not attending full time academic studies
  3. Unemployed for the previous six months
Note: Casual or on-call employment is exempt from item 3.
