The M'Chigeeng Adult and Continuing Education Program provides essential skills training for the workplace and upgrades literacy and numeracy levels.
Who Do We Offer Help To?
Our programs are designed for adults from 19 years of age who are out of school and want to improve their:
- Employment opportunities
- Academic skills
- Self-management skills
- Self-direction skills
There is no upper age limit, so whatever your age, if you want help, give us a call!
Our Programs
Numeracy and Literacy
- Levels 1-5
- Upgrading program with one-to-one tutoring in Language and Mathematics based on the outcome of an initial assessment. Completion of Level 5 leads to a credit program
Basic Skills
Filling out forms, writing letters, communication, following instructions such as recipes, patterns etc., banking and budgeting.
GED Preparation (General Education Diploma)
One-to-one tutoring in 5 key high school curriculum areas:
- Reading
- Writing
- Social Studies
- Science
- Mathematics
When you are ready, we will assist in scheduling your exam date and time. All exam fee's are the responsibility of the student. Limited sponsorship's are available to those who may need assistance.
Goal Oriented Training Plan Development
We will provide individual assessment for long term career planning that builds upon your present skills and abilities. We will assist in developing a training plan that is career-oriented with academic instruction and guidance.
Independent Learning Courses
One-to-one tutoring in a High School Credit Program that helps student complete Ministry of Education Secondary School credits towards a high school diploma (OSSGD). Based upon your current High School Credits, MACEP staff can help you choose the ILC course(s) that are required for your Grade 12 Diploma.
Basic Computer Skills Courses
Large class instruction with one-to-one assistance in basic computer skills including Word, Publisher, Excel and Internet navigation.
Career Guidance
Explore Career options and prerequisites required for post secondary and training programs.
Pre-Academic Career Entrance Program (Pre ACE)
One to one instruction in core subjects math, english and science which will increase your level of understanding so that you may enroll in an online ACE program.
Academic Career Entrance Program Online
The Academic & Career Entrance (ACE) Program is specifically designed for upgrading academic skills of adults and is offered via OntarioLearn Distance Education. ACE allows students to achieve the entrance requirements for apprenticeships and many post-secondary programs in a relatively short period of time. The Academic and Career Entrance Certificate is a recognized Ontario Grade 12 equivalency for the purpose of entrance to post-secondary, apprenticeship registration and employment.
ACE Online Assessment Process - All ACE online students must complete the Learn to Learn course prior to enrolment in ACE. This 20 hour course will help determine suitability to online learning and academic upgrading.
NOTE: To receive an ACE Certificate, students must successfully complete Communications, Mathematics, and two other courses from the course list. Students may register in individual courses to fulfill requirements of most post-secondary programs.
The ACE Program is tuition free. The program is paid for by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
