The children, youth, and families of M’Chigeeng look to the current leadership to provide guidance, direction and clarity in matters that affect their present and future state of affairs. In response to such a responsibility, our leadership holds steadfast in their commitment and adhere to the guidance, direction, and clarity given through the teachings of our ancestors. The teachings of our ancestors express that the Seven Grandfather Teachings are vital to walking life’s path in harmony with oneself, others, and creation. It is with this understanding that our leadership has developed a community based approach to caring for the children, youth, and families of M’Chigeeng. The development and implementation of the Family Resources Department was created and is duly referred to as the "Care From Within" program.

The Family Resources Department strives to keep the families of M’Chigeeng intact and to help restore balance to the families and community members of the M’Chigeeng First Nation using support resources within M’Chigeeng. Since the inception of the Family Resources Department there has been a significant decrease in the number of children being taken into the care of the Children’s Aid Society. With the continued support of M’Chigeeng Departments, service providers and community member, we will continue to maintain the strength and integrity of the M’Chigeeng First Nation.
