We have a nurse practitioner on site at the Health Centre through Noojmowin Teg that provides Well Woman services for the clientele. We also provide workshops on health topics such as smoking cessation, men’s health and diabetes prevention averaging about 12 participants.

Noojmowin Teg also provides some additional funding for health teaching/planning with the Doctors from Mindemoya. The assistance helped provide workshops in areas such as men’s prostate health and cooking for camp through our successful “Lunch and Learns”.

The nursing program has found that evening workshops are difficult to get participants out to, but Lunch and Learn workshops work well with participants by providing information with a small lunch. We also provided site visits by the nursing staff on topics such as blood pressure, diabetes screening, healthy eating and various challenges such as the walking challenge and “biggest loser” challenge. The dietician works closely with our CHN, diabetes educator and Community Health Representative. Our staff attended training sessions and then provided community workshops in "Colour it Up" and "Cooking for your Life".
