Social Assistance Transfer Funding Program

The Social Assistance Transfer Fund (SATF) provides for the use of social assistance funds in combination with funding from other sources to generate employment and/or skill development for people on social assistance. Funding for the SATF program comes from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. It is the intent of the SATF program that upon completion of the job placement the employer will be able to continue to employ the participant with ongoing employment. However this cannot always be the case given the fact that the majority of work available within our community is seasonal employment.

In 2007/2008 we had several participants hired under the SATF Program who were placed with various organizations. Some of these placements included Teacher’s Aid Assistant with Lakeview School; High School Program Assistant with Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute, Administration Support Clerk with Public Works Dept., and a Marketing Trainee. The majority of the hands-on-training job placements were for a 2 year period.

We are always welcoming to any new partners wishing to access new SATF projects within our community. If you would like further information please call the Ontario Works Administrator.
