Bingo Attendant (Runner)

Bingo Attendant/Runner will report to the Bingo Manager

Position Summary

The Bingo Attendant/Runner will be highly visible during the course of bingo sessions. This position requires excellence in customer service and knowledge of bingo procedures is essential.

Essential Functions

  • Greets and welcomes bingo players
  • Encourages and promotes sale of bingo packages and keeps record of all transactions made
  • Makes accurate and speedy changes
  • Records balances of bingo papers and money collected on the approved control sheets provided by the Bingo Controller
  • Assists customers with explanation of bingo games
  • Is quick to locate and call out bingos to the caller
  • Ensure players use dabber to mark bingo cards; and, players have valid entry packages
  • Ensure tables are clean during and after sessions
  • Adheres and complies with STGC gaming regulations and bingo operation procedures and guidelines
  • Ensures that management is advised immediately in all areas of possible cheating, fraud or suspicious behaviour as observed from the caller’s area
  • Stays alert and visually scan the entire hall, always on the alert for possible bingos
  • Mental Demands, Physical Effort and Working Conditions
  • Staying focused on minute details that may have a financial impact (i.e., all rules of play)
  • Ability to run when a bingo is called or player needs help
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends when required
  • Must be able to work in a noisy, busy, hectic and fast-paced environment that may produce stressful situations

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum

  • Ability to handle cash and accurately and quickly make change
  • Ability to explain the bingo program in detail to players
  • Must have a friendly demeanour and smile
  • Must have a professional manner and appearance at all times
  • Must have experience in crowd control
  • Dependable

Preferred

  • Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Awareness of First Nation Gaming

Other

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be willing to participate in training
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and is a good team player
  • Must have knowledge and/or experience of the language, culture, history and customs of the Anishinaabe
  • Understanding and fluency of Ojibwe is an asset
  • CRC required (30 days current, original or certified)

Criminal Record Checks (CRC) must be thirty (30) days current, original or certified copy. The She’ndwin Teg Gaming Commission is in a position of public trust; and is committed to maintaining this public trust, therefore candidates CRC record must be clear of any convictions relating to theft, drugs and/or alcohol, assault and/or confidentiality/privacy.
