Reporting Relationship
The Bingo Caller will report to the Bingo Manager
The Bingo Caller will keep the games running smoothly and efficiently
Essential Functions
- Ensures all gaming equipment is in good working condition prior to each session
- Welcomes patrons, introduces self and Bingo Attendants
- Explains and identifies House Rules prior to the start of the games
- Ensures bingo sessions start on time and all numbers called are consistent
- Verification of bingo balls with random participant
- Calls all bingo numbers and follows the Bingo Session Program
- Ensures bingo balls are dropped correctly before each game and strives to eliminate mistakes during all sessions
- Announces each game, specials, money jar number and prize payouts
- Advises customers/patrons procedures for all games
- Verifies and records bingo winnings and records card numbers for each game
- Verifies winning players have valid entry packages before validating winner
- Announces number of winners and all prize amounts won prior to closing each game
- Promotes sales from the caller’s console
- Makes community announcements such as birthday wishes and non-profit community activities
- Keeps caller’s work area clean
- Closes the bingo sessions by thanking all patrons for attending
- Covers bingo machine and closes up caller unit
- Ensure management is advised in all areas of possible cheating, fraud or suspicious behaviours
- Stays alert and visually scans the entire hall for possible bingos
- Adherence and compliance to gaming bingo operation procedures and guidelines
- Mental and Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Staying focused on minute details (i.e. rules of play) and has excellent hearing
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to climb a ladder to change game board light bulbs
- Flexible to work evening hours and/or weekends
- Ability to work in a noisy, busy, hectic and fast-paced environment that may produce stressful situations
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum
- Good working knowledge of bingo and experience in crowd control
- Pleasant speaking voice and a friendly demeanour
- Must present a professional manner and appearance at all times
Preferred
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Able to work under pressure
- Excellent customer service skills
Other
- Must have knowledge and/or experience with the language, culture, history and customs of the Anishinaabe
- Understanding and fluency of Ojibwe is an asset
- Must have an awareness of First Nation Gaming
- CRC (30 days current, original or certified copy)
- Must be bondable
CRC Rationale
Criminal Record Checks (CRC) must be thirty (30) days current, original or certified copy. The She’ndwin Teg Gaming Commission is in a position of public trust; and is committed to maintaining this public trust, therefore candidates CRC record must be clear of any convictions relating to theft, drugs and/or alcohol, assault and/or confidentiality/privacy.
