COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS

Given the necessity of Chief and Council to devote continuing attention on all matters of concern to the Band, and that some matters may pre-occupy Chief and Council unduly, it shall be standard practice to appoint Committees from time to time as the interests of the First Nation may require.

M’Chigeeng First Nation Chief and Council will be accepting applications from interested Band Members for the following External Committee:

• Waubetek Business Corporation

The Committees of Council act in an advisory capacity on various issues and assist to ensure that recommendations are in compliance with current policies, procedures and By-laws as approved by Chief and Council.

Board members are expected to attend one meeting per month, usually in Birch Island, as well as one three day planning session per year. All Board meeting travel expenses are covered and a small honorarium is provided. Board orientation is also provided.

All interested candidates must provide:

• A letter of interest with specific information on meeting the qualifications listed below
• An updated Resume

Qualifications:

• Must be registered member or a representative of M’Chigeeng First Nation
• Must have a strong background in business, finance, management or economic programming;
• Must have a good work knowledge of the community which they would be representing in terms of businesses, market area and services available within the region;
• Must have experience in working on Boards/Committees;
• Must not be an existing loan client of the Waubetek Business Development Corporation nor have an “immediate family member” who is an existing loan client of the corporation.
• Must be aware that he or she, and their immediate family (as defined above), would not be eligible for loan financing through the Waubetek Business Development Coporation due to the conflict of interest guidelines;
• Must be willing to provide regular reports to the community represented; and
