Periodically existing MFN Band Employees may be away from their jobs for any extended period of time. The purpose of this posting is to replenish our pool of qualified individuals who we can call on to fill those temporary vacant positions (i.e., 2 days to 6 months). Individuals will benefit on-the-job experience along with transferable knowledge skills and abilities for future long term opportunities.

Reporting Relationship - Incumbents will work under the direction of the Department Manager and/or Supervisor.

Position Summary - Pending on the position, specific Job Descriptions will be made available upon request.


Administration/Clerical Support Services

  • Assist Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll Clerks in daily activities
  • Prepare cheque requisitions and assist with staff timesheets, mileage and travel arrangements
  • Assist in other Department administrative needs, coordinate meetings, record & distribute meeting minutes
  • Prepare/type spreadsheet, budgets and other financial documents and correspondence
  • Provide clerical support for staff, maintains filing system, prepare reports and assists at front desk reception
  • Attends Department/staff meetings, runs errands
  • Provide secretarial and clerical support services for staff, typing, photocopying, faxing, filing
  • Provide front desk reception duties, answering phones, greeting the general public, record in/out-going mail
  • Assist with staff timesheets, mileage and travel arrangements

Qualifications/Requirements

OSSD/Equivalent, College/Business Administration Diploma would be an asset and administration experience; CRC & VSS is mandatory for Health Services, Family Resources, and Education Departments.


Program/Personal/Community Support Workers

  • Provides administration, community, program and personal support/care services (as per specific job description)
  • Assist with planning, coordinating and implementing community programs, services and monthly/annual events
  • Provides intake, referrals, local transportation services
  • Provides homecare services: cleaning, meal preparation and general health related functions to maintain health lifestyles
  • Assist department/program staff with client inquires and follow-up
  • Maintains program services resources for staffing and client needs
  • General administrative/reception duties and maintains accurate and timely reports and filing system
  • Attends Department/staff meetings

Qualifications/Requirements

OSSD/Equivalent, Social Services/Health Care Diploma, and related experience in health/social services field. CRC & VSS is mandatory for Health Services, Family Resources, and Education Departments.

Early Childhood Educators

  • Uphold MFN & Daycare Policies and Day Nurseries Act for safety and protection of all children
  • Primary responsibilities is all aspects related to child development such as academic learning skills, hygiene, health, welfare and safety; and required tentative care of children
  • Assist in daily activities designed to stimulate physical, social, mental and emotional growth and well being
  • To work with children in group settings while retaining sensitivity to individual child needs
  • Ensure all children are accounted for at all times both inside areas and exterior playgrounds
  • Responsible to prepare and maintain safe play areas for both inside areas and exterior playgrounds
  • Assist with housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness of all areas in the Daycare
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of records and information relating to children, parents and staff
  • Attend and participate staff meetings
  • Qualifications/Requirements – ECE Diploma or Equivalent & Registered under College of ECE; CRC & VSS mandatory

Daycare Cook

  • Plan, prepare, serve daily nutritious lunches & snacks following recommended health & safety guidelines
  • Ensure daily cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting after each meal time in all lunchroom and kitchen areas
  • Maintain food inventory regularly
  • Qualifications/Requirements – Culinary/Cook Certification/Training, Safety Food Handler Course or ODSSD/Equivalent; CRC & VSS mandatory

Custodial & Janitorial Workers

  • General building maintenance and repairs for effective operations, painting, replacing light fixtures, plumbing
  • Ensure building is secure at all times, to lock all doors and windows after work hours
  • Daily cleaning of interior building, kitchen and office work areas; vacuuming office and hallway carpets; sweeping & washing all flooring including bathrooms; emptying garbage cans, removing all debris from work areas, kitchen, bathrooms; dusting & polishing of office equipment and fixtures, cleans windows and ledges
  • Exterior duties such as keeping yard clear of debris, grass cutting, snow clearing of building entrances
  • Attends required training and department/staff meetings Qualifications & Requirements - OSSD, WHIMIS, Training in cleaning and chemical use; CRC & VSS is mandatory for Health Services, Family Resources, and Education Departments

Other General Requirements (per Job Description)

  • Must be available by phone and able to report to work with minimal notice and flexible to work odd/shift hours
  • Must be responsible and dependable and is a good team player to work well in team environments
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, have excellent customer service skills and ability to handle complaints
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to operate general office equipment, general construction equipment, cleaning equipment
  • First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Access to vehicle and valid driver’s license with own transportation is an asset
  • Able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Knowledgeable of Anishinaabek culture, history and customs and fluency in Ojibwe is an asset
  • CRC/VSS requirement, (per Job Description) must be thirty (30) days current original or certified copy - Renewed Annually
