M'Chigeeng Binoojiinh Gamgoonhs - Early Learning Centre

MISSION STATEMENT
Our goal is to provide stimulating experiences for the child in a safe, happy and relaxed environment.
In addition, our goal is to foster independence, self-esteem, curiosity, cultural awareness and school readiness.

PHILOSOPHY

Respond to the needs of M'Chigeeng's children by nourishing their bodies, minds, and spirits in a holistic way.  The caregivers shall accept and praise the child's self image because it is in feeling and thinking good about himself/herself that a child will reach his/her full potential.

Reinforce the Aboriginal world view, critical history, spiritual beliefs, languages, economies, cultures, extended families, methods of social and cultural development and approaches to health and wellness.

Base the curriculum and instruction on individual and family needs to reflect and compliment each child's developmental age.

Provide opportunties for families to identify positive contributions to their Aboriginal heritage and to world cultures; an integral and vital component of our philosophy shall be to incorporate and maintain our cultural identity as an Ojibwe Nation.  Our identity can be preserved through retention of the Ojibwe Language and teaching traditional Native values, which fosters love, resepect, and honour to all life.

Assist families to recognize that Early Childhood Education is relevant to their present and future roles as family and community members; foster our parent's interest in participating in their child's education; stregthen our children to succeed in both Aboriginal and mainstream societies.
