PROBATION POLICIES
Each student's progress will be reviewed at the end of the college semester or university year. If the student is not maintaining the academic standard for MFN Post Secondary Education assistance (a minimum average of 60%/2.0 GPA) or the institution’s minimum average (found in your institution's program grading policy), will be placed on PROBATION. The student will be required to enter into an educational plan/agreement with the MFN Education Department during this probationary period. Probation will be lifted upon satisfactory academic performance.
If progress does not improve or the student is exited from the program, the student will be required to withdraw from their program and sponsorship will terminate.
If a student continuously fails with providing the Post Secondary Counsellor with academic evidence, (ie. grades, mid term marks, transcripts etc.) they will be put on Academic Suspension.
If a students obtains zero credits within documents such as grades, mid term marks and transcripts– sponsorship will terminate.
Students will be considered for sponsorship after one academic year. Once the student becomes eligible for sponsorship, it is the student’s responsibility to apply.
Students returning after one academic year will automatically be placed on academic probation for the first semester.
Any requests for extensions to a student's probation must be presented to the Post Secondary Counselor by the student's Academic Advisor or Indigenous Student Services.
